The biggest grasshopper/locust I've ever seen; about 6" long.
How does he still stick to the glass? This guy was originally seen at the door to rm 1.
In the daytime, some iguanas would always come out to hang out in the gutters. This one's outside rm 5
Same lizard, different editing techniques...
This is a Coati. He came into the restaurant (open air) after dinner for a handout
Apparently he's well known around the hotel
He's kind of a cross between a raccoon and an anteater. We also saw a "regular" raccoon one night, in the same area.
Jacquie gave him some leftover watermelon.
Floor-lickin' good!
This tarantula was next to our door one night. We did not invite it in. About 4" long.
The next night, it was this cute little gecko, above our door.
According to my Google searching, this is a White-throated Magpie Jay. He also wants a handout.
He likes interrupting don Miguel Ruiz lectures with his loud call.
Nice hairdo!
Here's one in a more natural setting
More sunning iguanas in the gutter
On the stairs between our room and the one above, there was this beehive.
Keeping up with the Jonses, there were a couple of wasp nests right next to it.
On our last evening in Costa Rica, this 3" praying mantis came to our door. Jehovah's Witness? No thank you.
Here he's on the stucco above our door
These clever wasps created a tiny hive on a cactus (which happens to be right outside the lobby door). They're very well protected by the thorns!
